Mineral rights in California. It was suppose to be inherited however I was told I had to buy in. My ownership is only 12.5% however they are an S Corp. And use the pass through on taxes to me. How should I claim it, is there any deductions I can use, and it is all a part of my LLC business in which I own real estate in multi states. I’ve been taxed on the same money in 5 different states. Help…

What would you do if the division order is using an allocation method for the NRI calculation, but the permits and all filed documents state it is a pooled unit (and using the acreage calculation results in a severe increase of my NRI)?

Hi Matt,
What would the procedure be in Texas for reporting oil companies who don’t pay off. There’s a very nice old man who’s been cheated by a wealthy oil company since 2015 extracting oil and gas but stopped paying him without explanation. He is the owner and signer of lease since 1993 with all records and tax receipts. He is a military veteran and I would like to see him paid before he dies. Can you provide any information that would help him?

I’m a mineral owner of a few hundred producing acres in the Marcellus shale in Pennsylvania. I’m questioning whether my royalty payments are correct. The product on my royalty payments appears to be approximately 80% of what is being reported to the state and the sales price always appears to be lower than Henry Hub prices. So, I’m trying to confirm that I am not being shorted.

Hey Matt, like your podcast; very informative. I had a question about ratifying a state pooling agreement. As the mineral owner, the operator originally wanted me to sign a ratification of state pooling agreement to pool the Wolfcamp formation. I think I was ok with that, but now they want to revise the ratification to include all of the Bone Springs as well. What are your thoughts on that? Any help is much appreciated!
